Iron Springs

Last night we headed up the mountain with the McClelen family.  It was Evie's birthday and they invited us to come roast hot dogs and have some delicious birthday cake.

You might think we just live near red dirt and plateaus but just a short drive toward Flaming Gorge you end up in pine and quaky aspens. Vernal is a great place to live!  It is similar to Blanding.
The cute camping babies Preston and Moston
Shaylene made the toughest pinata ever!  Look at the concentration on their faces.
 Cute kiddos!
David smiling for the camera (I guess if you can call it that).  Shaylene and Mike with their yummy cake.  Hopefully we can get some sleeping bags for David and I soon so we can go camping to.  Thanks for the great time!

Josie's Cabin

After our long night at the Relay we all slept in and were well rested enough to head out for a hike.  Dinosaur National Monument has lots of little trails perfect for kids.  We decided to visit Josie's Cabin
Josie was a pioneer woman whom had been divorced multiple times and decided to move out to the middle of nowhere.  David and I decided she must have hated people for how secluded her home was.
Many people thought she had poisoned her last husband.  She was an interesting woman who was thought to have housed criminals like Butch Cassidy. She was completely self-reliant in every way.  She raised cattle and chickens, she had an orchard, a garden and took care of her home.
I wouldn't mind the view.
She lived in her cabin until 1959 when she passed away at the age of 90.

Cute!
Pretty cool chicken coop.

The pond behind her home,.

We hiked into box canyon and listened to our hilarious echoes. "Repent!"  was David's personal favorite.

Slow pokes.
This is a picture of the tops of the split mountain.  The green river has carved it's way through it making a really cool mountain range.

Relay for Life

This last Friday was the Relay for Life all-nighter.  We had a great time at the Walgreen's booth supporting local families affected by cancer.
The Walgreen's tent.  We threw this baby together Friday morning.......

Caregiver and Survivor lap.  I realized that cancer doesn't care who you are.  There were people of all ages young children, young parents, grandparents and every age in between.  It was very sobering during the silent walk to see how many people in our community have been affected.

We had some fun, ate good food, talked with friends and walked our laps.  We walked laps for Dillan a little boy from Chandlers school who passed away from leukemia in April. And we walked some special laps for Grandpa Black. :)

Chatting with some friends, drinking pop and eating snacks.

This is Doug he is one of David's employees.  He is a talker and hilarious.  He was willing to stay all night for the Walgreen's team.
We didn't leave until 12:30am and Brinlee was still going a hundred miles and hour.  We put her in the truck and she was asleep before we got home.  She was so tired she couldn't take the sucker out of her mouth.  We had to pry it from her when we got home.  Ha AH!

We had a great time and can't wait until next year.

Pharmacy of the Year!

After only 1 year managing the Vernal Walgreen's David's pharmacy staff was named readers choice pharmacy of the year!  Way to go Walgreen's!

All of David's ladies!  Ha Ha HA!  He works with women and their emotions all day and then comes home to Ronni and Brinlee for round two.
Check out that sexy manager!  New glasses and some serious facial hair. Love you babe and all of your hard work over the last year!

Sibling Love

CHANDLER:  Walks in the back door while Brinlee is scream crying in the background.
MOM:  "Chandler, did you hurt Brinlee?"
CHANDLER:  "Brinlee slapped me in the face twice."
MOM:  "So what did you do?"
CHANDLER:  "I made her pay."

More kid talk.

*I was arguing with Chandler about something....

Chandler:  I don't even care about you!

Mom (very sarcastically):  Oh so you don't even care about me!?!? Whoop Dee Doo!

Chandler:  Mom!!!!

Mom:  If you couldn't tell I was being really sarcastic.

Chandler:  I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!  Talk kid language!

*Chandler asking to take some army guys outside to play with....

Chan:  Can I take some army guys outside?

Mom:  You can take a few but I don't want to hear any crying if they get chewed up by the lawn mower.

Chan:  Ok!  Do you think I should take 3, 4, 5.....30?  No wait that is way too much.  How about 10?  No 15?  Ok I will take 50!

*FHE we were talking about temples.  I was showing the kids some interior pictures of the temple.

Mom(showing the picture of the instruction room):  What do you notice about this room?

Kiddos thinking.

Brin:  IT'S A MOVIE THEATER!!!!!

Chan:  There are movie theaters in the temple!?!?!?!?

Kid Talk

As our little neighbor friends were leaving.

Evie:  "Thanks for letting us run through the sprinklers"
Sullie:" Ya thanks, see you later"

Chandler holding the door open for them:  "You are welcome!  We really appreciate it"

I almost died!  Evie and Sullie just looked at each other and Brin was stripping on the lawn.

Babies

Our babies look nothing alike.  We recently loaded all of our photos from the old computer.  It has been fun looking back.

McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs

Vernal is the place for our little family!  We have been on an adventure every weekend since it has been warm.  Today we hiked to the McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs.  It was about a 2 mile round trip hike that was just the right length for 3 little kids.
Top Right:  Brin being sassy as can be.
Bottom Left: Chandler our "trail leader" and Brin his assistant to the trail leader.

At the beginning of the trail was a large bucket with walking sticks.  Chandler decided he needed one and that since he had one he was the leader.  It was nice.  There were many snack and drink breaks, he made sure we walked safely and even made sure we could all fit through some of the tight spots.
Preston is a good little hiker.  So happy and adorable.  He is David's mini-me.
 Trail leader and his assistant.
The petroglyphs were much different than the ones we have seen in Blanding.  They are Fremont Indian drawings and are very old.  So old that a lot of them are really hard to see.  I darkened the photos so it is easier to see them.
The assistant looking to make sure the trail leader was on the right path.
This one must be representing a God.  It has a crown on its head and a very well defined face.
 They made perfect circles.

These petroglyphs are famous for the 3 Kings that have been carved.   In this one the carvings were very tall, some taller than David.

Very detailed images.  The ones we are use to are more like stick figures.

The twins.  Notice how their legs are well defined.

This one is hard to see but it is a man fighting a bear.
We had a great time!  Come out and see all of the fun places Vernal has to offer.  Don't for get about us though.  :)

Sink bath

Who loves a little baby in a sink bath?   We do!
